Olive came to TWRC as a baby after surviving being attacked by a raptor. The bird grabbed Olive by her ear, resulting in her losing it. Without the outer portion of her ear, she cannot close her ear canal like other opossums do. Bugs, parasites and debris could get inside her ear if she lived in the wild, so instead she became a TWRC Education Ambassador. Olive regularly goes out to events to help teach people about these often-misunderstood animals and the role they play in controlling the populations of ticks, roaches, mice, rats, and venomous snakes. Amongst our native wildlife, Virginia Opossums are both exceptionally beneficial and truly unique. By buying a shirt, you can help us buy Olive a running wheel to enhance her life and keep her fit!

Olive is one of my favorite animals where I do volunteer work.
My husband and I love opossums. We have one that comes to our birdfeeders at night. We get a glimpse of him every now and then and are watching him grown up. We named him Leroy. He is the cutest little thing ever!
