Team Sugar

Sugar is a 10 year old American Staffordshire terrier who was sadly surrendered to a local shelter in upstate NY. She was overweight, not spayed, and had urinary issues. With thorough examinations, she was diagnosed with a benign mammory tumor and through a process of costly tests and ultrasounds, she has urinary bladder stones which causes chronic infections. Currently, she is on long term antibiotics and a strict diet for her issues which is costly due to her special, medicated food. Her weight issue is the reason that she cannot be spayed right now; she has about 10 more pounds to go. And, if her health can sustain the surgery, the benign mammary tumor will be taken off as well. If her bladder stones do not dissolve on their own, they will need to be surgically removed. We will continue to assess what is the best course of treatment is needed and only do what is necessary so Sugar willl not be compromised due to her health and age.
Despite all of this, Sugar is an amazing dog that is full of life and loves her foster brothers. Her foster parents are so wonderful and they want to be her forever foster. This is why HeartsHerd needs to raise funds. We will continue to pay for her medical costs for the rest of her life in foster care, but we need your help!
