About this campaign

Water Drop LA is the only organization that focuses on large-scale water distributions in Los Angeles County despite the fact that the County is home to over 75,000 people experiencing homelessness. Each week, we purchase 8 to 9 pallets of water from a wholesale supplier and distribute our supply to more than 1200 water-insecure people. All funds will go to directly supporting Water Drop operations.

WDLA aims to take a multi-faceted approach that is holistic and responsive to our service recipients. WDLA was founded in July of 2020 in response to a gap in services across the LA region. Upon passing out food to unhoused residents in Downtown LA during the COVID-19 pandemic, the founding volunteers were frequently asked for water: a necessity that the volunteers incorrectly assumed was publicly available. To help alleviate some of the burden of water insecurity, the volunteers began fundraising enough money to purchase water. Via grassroots donations and community partnerships, WDLA’s scale expanded, bringing these “Drops” to Skid Row every weekend for the past four years.
