You might know him as a Bridgeport High School baseball standout from the early 2000s or maybe he’s protected and served you somehow in the community during his years as a Bridgeport Police officer. Maybe you know of his wife Brittany (Pinion) or his adorable kids Penelope and Beau. Well, Brian Kemmerer and his family were dealt a serious blow recently with a dentist’s discovery of low-grade squamous cell carcinoma in his mouth, despite Brian never using tobacco. After a biopsy, the head and neck cancer specialists at WVU Healthcare Ruby Memorial Hospital recommended surgery to remover the cancerous growth and to determine the risk or progression of the cancer spreading. Results showed the cancer spread to to six of his 42 lymph nodes that were removed as well which led to a treatment plan including a simultaneous high dosage radiation in conjunction with chemotherapy.
