About this campaign

On August 1, 2015, Ella Silva suffered a traumatic brain injury caused by an AVM rupture in her brain at the age of 5. After a several surgeries to relieve the pressure in her brain, Ella suffered a massive stroke. After many weeks in the pediatric ICU at Hasbro Children's Hospital, Ella was transferred to Spaulding Rehab Hospital in Boston. Ella continued intense therapies while at Spaulding and returned home in December, 23rd of 2015. The Silva family was separated for a total of 147 days. Tom, Ella's Dad, was out of work for 8 months. Both parents took turns staying with Ella at both Hasbro and Spaulding and taking care of Chloe at home. Diane, Ella's Mom, was unable to return to her job. Diane is now Ella's caregiver, advocate and nurse. Ella is still working hard at her multiple weekly therapies at Hasbro Outpatient Therapies. She continues to make progress every day. The Silva's live in a lakefront home. As you can imagine the family enjoyed many great times on the lake. Chloe and Ella would play in the water together practically every day. Diane and Tom love to take the girls out on their boat and enjoyed many beautiful sunsets. Since Ella's injury getting her down to the water has proven to be very difficult, especially in those summer months when Dad is at work and the girls are home. Ella would love to be able to join her sister and their family and friends down by the water once again. We would appreciate your help for the Silva family to find a way to get Ella in the backyard down to the water. This fundraiser would get them the money needed to get a ramp down to the water and even possibly a supportive chair to allow Ella to go in the water. Your help would be immensely appreciated and would allow the sisters to enjoy each other in the lake together again! Plus you could also be sporting a sweet Team Ella shirt and spreading awareness for Traumatic Brain Injuries in the process! Thanks so much for helping dreams come true! With great appreciation in faith and love. The Silva family.
