About this campaign

Merlin is a 15 month old cat who came to us when he was four weeks old with his sister Rose. When he was 11 months old he suddenly began seizing! He has since had another seizure and needs blood tests! He lives with four other adopted cats who need their annual vet visit & shots.

Shirts will be delivered approximately 2 weeks after the close date. Delivery dates could be affected by the holidays.

Last year a friend put out the ‘all-call’ to find someone who could take in two small kittens who had been found by their dead mother. They needed to be bottle fed. I’m disabled and bed bound most of the time so when no one close to her was able to do the job my kids and I agreed to help.

That is how Sir Merlin Fuzzybutt and Dame Rose Tyler of Hogwarts became part of our family. They grew and grew and grew. We couldn’t give them up to new homes. They became part of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Kitty Horde.

The Horde started in 1987 with Christopher T. Cat who, at six weeks old, broke his back leg. We took him to the emergency vet (“You brought in a stray?” “Ummmm, he was HURT!”) and grew as stray kitties crossed our path.

Merlin had his first seizure when he was 11 months old. I was terrified. I took him to the vet who said it wasn’t likely he’d seize again within 6 mos to a year and to keep an eye on him. Three months later he seized again. Now the vet would like to do blood work.

Right now our funds are low. Rose got sick and had an emergency vet visit and had to spend the weekend at the vet. We've had the flea year from OMB! and two of our babies are sensitive (not to mention my son). What I need to do is raise the funds to get Merlin tested to see what might be causing his epilepsy (to see if he needs meds), to get all of the Horde their annual vet visit and to get a year's worth of Comfortis since that is the only flea product that is conquering the fleas here. (We tried everything.... after the drops from the vet stopped working!! eeeep!) But my other goal is this one. How many of you, if you've managed to make it this far, know that cats can even have epilepsy? I have a goddaughter who has a rare form of epilepsy. We are fortunate. With a combination of medication and diet she has been seizure free for a year and has now been weaned off of meds. But our furry friends can't talk to us. They can't say if they're seeing an aura. We can't tell them what's happened to them. Think about it for a minute. If it's scary for an adult human. Scarier for a toddler. A baby. What about your cat? What if it was your cat? I want to make enough to at least get Merlin the help he needs so that he won't be scared again.

Any leftover money will be put into an account dedicated to future vet visits and medication.
