In and out of government service, I have been on the edges of a half-century of momentous events. I am fictionalizing these times and places to preserve the emotions and passions of those times in a series of novels for those who weren't there or who were but would like to see a different point of view. I keep the narrative brisk, and leavened with humor and romance because while history is recorded in highlights and bulletpoints, life is lived in moments, fears and hopes. I've already published one of the series ("The Port Director" by R.P. Barr is about post-9/11 terrorism), but I need help to bring the rest to life. "A Smaller War" is about Vietnam-era army service and the anti-war movement. This book is completed and ready to print. "The Witnesses' Wounds" about the Watergate era will be finished shortly.
