About this campaign

Our “Looking Out for Owls” campaign is a fun play on words. We know that owl lovers are always ‘looking out for owls’ – in a literal sense - binoculars at the ready, hoping to spot an elusive hooter in its camouflaged roost. And, if you love and admire owls, as we do, you also want to ‘look out’ for them in a protective sense.

Whatever “Looking Out for Owls” means to you; it means a great deal to us that you are willing to support our work. Every dollar helps and, given our small size, your contribution has immediate and measurable effects.

Your T-shirt purchase supports the Owl Research Institute's following program goals:

RESEARCH

Conduct ground-breaking studies to understand species’ needs, vulnerabilities, and population trends. Length of study and level of comprehension set our research apart, which acts as a powerful conservation tool.

EDUCATION

Engage and educate a global audience through wildlife research. LiveCam partnerships with explore.org plus live Q & A’s, lectures, social media, TV, magazine articles, and field tours are all tools we utilize to facilitate this engagement.

CONSERVATION

Supply partners, such as federal and state agencies, private conservation groups, and land owners, information to promote meaningful habitat management. As the leading research center for population trends on many owl species, we distribute this information through scientific publications and technical reports across the world.

INNOVATION

Strive for new ways to improve our methods and understand our data. We were the first researchers to track Snowy Owls by satellite and, soon, we hope to be the first to document the effects of climate change on this species.

Please share this T-Shirt campaign with as many of your friends as you can! Together we can help spread the word and encourage owl conservation efforts.

Thank you for your support!

The Owl Research Institute Team

The Owl Research Institute (ORI) is a non-profit dedicated to owl research, conservation, and education. We are based in western Montana, although the effects of our work extend worldwide.

You can learn more about ORI on our website and be sure to "like" us on Facebook!

Long-term data collection isn't the flashiest of biological pursuits. In a world that has come to expect fast results, the dedicated field biologist has become a bit of an outlier. But this is what the Owl Research Institute does, and does best. We observe, we survey, we log, and we repeat. And we've been repeating it for over 30 years. It is from this basic strategy that the magic emerges: the data takes shape, the patterns surface, the picture becomes clear.

That's not to say we don't utilize resources that enable us to do the best work possible. As leaders in owl research, we use scientific, technological and creative methods to accomplish results. Equipped with knowledge, we educate people around the world and inspire them to make conservation minded choices.

Long-term biological research is critical to understanding an ever-changing planet. As a result, we have many, species-specific projects underway at all times. Learn more about our current projects here.
