"At New Kent High School, our club helped to organize an event called LiveSmart. With much cooperation from the local Sheriff's Office, Fire & Rescue squads, Drive Smart VA, The American Heart Association, Special Ops, the military, and our club Youth Alcohol and Drug Abuse Prevention Project (YADAPP), we we able to teach over 720 students CPR. We had two incidents this school year with heart failure; one of which was fatal. We combined our efforts to teach our students CPR and how to respond in an emergency in order to prevent future loss, as well as inform students about texting and/or drinking while driving, alcohol and drug impairment. We also had stations for students to visit to learn about the careers that the police, fire, rescue, military and the med-evac flight crew had to offer our students.
