"Over 50 volunteers from the Alpha Omega International Dental Fraternity enthusiastically participated in the Phoenix Salvation Army Christmas Dinner Program on December 25, 2012. The day brought together many local community volunteers to serve meals to over 4,500 people.
Each December, Alpha Omega holds an annual convention for its members and families. This year, Scottsdale, Arizona was chosen location, affording Alpha Omega members the opportunity to serve the community as volunteers, helping to prepare and serve Christmas dinner. AO's participation in the Phoenix Salvation Army Christmas Dinner Program was spurred by its ongoing effort to promote its Global Oral Health Initiative (GOHI). GOHI encourages AO members and their families to help heal the world through volunteering in local communities.
Alpha Omega's Global Oral Health Initiative is the umbrella program under which all Alpha Omega philanthropic activity falls. It is composed of many parts which include fundraising by AO foundations and trusts, global outreach to third world nations, the enhancement of dental education and research by supporting institutions of higher learning, the fostering of volunteerism consistent with the values of Tikun Olam (healing the world), and the promotion of health as a means for establishing diplomatic partnerships and encouraging peace. "This past quarter, I had a chance to pledge a co-ed business fraternity, Delta Sigma Pi. After crossing, one of the members and I decided to order some sweatshirts for each of our pledge brothers. Throughout the process, each of us were branded a unique trait or nickname. We thought it'd be fun to remember those names/qualities by putting them on their sweatshirts. "

"This is our Lambda Chi Alpha chapter at the University of Richmond, VA for our national philanthropy event, Watermelon Bash in October of this year. The event consisted of 13 teams participating in watermelon relay, seed spitting competition, watermelon throw, watermelon decorating, and watermelon bashing. All watermelons were donated to our chapter since they are going out of season. We raised over $500 and many non-perishable goods that all went to Central Virginia's FeedMore organization.

"The Western Ontario chapters of Delta Upsilon and Kappa Alpha Theta took part in UWO's Relay for Life. Both organizations raised over $4900, the funds go directly to the Canadian Cancer Society.
