Hollibrook Elementary Green Thumb Gardening Club by Rebecca G. - about 1 month ago
"For my Girl Scout Gold Award Project, I chose Hollibrook Elementary as the site for my community garden. I wanted to make an impact on children's lives, but I hadn't realized how much of an impact they would have on mine. As I visited every Monday and taught the girls about nutrition, healthy living, recycling, gardening, and caring for the environment, we became a family. This picture was taken on the last meeting of this school year. All the girls wore their t-shirts (which they all love by the way) and we had a smoothie party and picked the first vegetables of our garden: radishes. We made healthy smoothies and just enjoyed everyone's company. The girls range from Pre-K to 5th Grade and I am taking the picture, the two teacher sponsors can also be seen in the picture. I created the club to continue the garden far into the future and I hope the program will expand in coming years. The girls love it, the teachers love it, and I loved it. Thanks to Customink's t-shirts, the girls can now wear the club shirts each Monday to increase interest in the club and for cute pictures like this one! "
