People ask us…”What does that mean?” Luke 9:23 may seem quite unextrodinary at first. Sure, of course “take up your cross,” Jesus wants us to follow him. But we think of a cross as something we put on a t-shirt or hang around our neck. It is so much more. The Cross, to a Roman, is the symbol of a failed revolution. Paul says this of the Cross: 1 Cor. 1:18 “For the word of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God.” If we are serious about our walk with Christ and we step out, take up your cross daily, and serve Christ faithfully; our peers will look at us and think EPIC FAIL. But we know that if the world sees us as an epic failure, God sees us for what we are…a good and faithful servant."
