Desktop Support Technician

Fast-Growing, Fun, Entrepreneurial Web Company Seeks A Desktop Support Technician

TITLE: Desktop Support Technician
COMPANY: CustomInk.com
LOCATION: 7900 Westpark Drive, Suite T500, McLean, Virginia 22102
TERMS: Full–Time, Immediate Start; Long-term Commitment
BENEFITS: Options, health PPO, dental PPO, long and short-term disability, life insurance, immediate vesting 401K, generous personal leave, free food, parking, and t-shirts!

ROLE:

We seek a qualified, dependable, and highly-motivated Desktop Support Technician to assist with the technology needs of our team members. You will be working daily with individual team members and helping them with technology issues related to their PCs, applications, email, phone system, etc. The ideal candidate will be friendly, resourceful, reliable, independent, and interested in helping people become more productive with their technology. This requires substantial knowledge of supporting Windows and other applications in a business setting. This is a full-time position with some on-call time, based out of our Tyson's Corner office.

This role will be a member of the Office Technology team, which currently consists of one other Desktop Support Technician and a manager. This role reports to the Office Technology Manager and will work closely with all of the departments within the company on a daily basis.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

As a Desktop Support Technician, you will be a primary point-of-contact for all technology issues reported by fellow team members. You will support technologies such as Windows PCs, LAN, internet connections, file servers, printers, telephone systems, and network services. You will document and assess problems, resolving them independently or routing them as needed. You will also be responsible for regular maintenance activities, moving equipment, and assist with Desktop Support projects.

While you will receive ongoing guidance and support from the Office Technology Manager, you will be expected to get up to speed quickly and take individual responsibility for maintenance and management of office-related technology assets. Based on performance, you may also have the opportunity to take on more responsibility in Office Technology projects such as deploying services like email and chat, software evaluation, etc.

MEASURES OF SUCCESS:

Key measures of success in this position stem from how efficiently tickets are handled, survey ratings the rest of the company gives to office technology in general, and feedback on specific helpdesk tickets. To that end, a successful candidate will have the desire to make individuals more productive with their technology, not just fix problems with computers.

QUALIFICATIONS:

You should have several years of experience (1-3 years desired) with PC hardware, data networking, software troubleshooting, Internet technologies and experience in prioritizing issues. Strong communication skills, organizational skills, and problem-solving abilities are required. Substantial experience supporting a Windows environment in a business setting and proficiency with Macintosh and Linux operating systems is preferred. Experience with telephony or call center technologies, Microsoft Office, graphic design applications (such as Adobe Illustrator), and relevant certifications (MCSE, CCNA, A+, etc.) is strongly desired.

Finally, you will be expected to be a team player in our fun, intense, and results-oriented environment, so you must be helpful, professional, and able to learn quickly.

This is a full-time position and requires flexibility to work additional hours and on-call when necessary. Candidates must be able to lift over 60 lbs.
