"I have been diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis for 11 years. I have never done a MS walk for the cure ever before. But when my friend Lindsey sadly was diagnosed last year- I thought I should share my story and get involved. Lindsey's first year was up and down - as where my first two years. But she was able to become pregnant in the fall and is days away from bringing another beautiful life into this world. With the shoulders of each other, we have cried on bad days and laugh on the good. We decided to come up with a new group called Heelin' for Ms- for us ladies who can still walk and can wear our heels (on the good days) and as a way for us to HEAL together. MS robs us of many things and it's through fellowship among friends and others with this disease and support from family and friends- we can push thru and heal our hearts and soothe our souls.
This walk was very meaningful to me- for the many years I couldn't not walk - or walked with assistance. But this year, my 11th year, I did it among friends, my husband of 5 years and my two best friends who traveled from Ohio and South Carolina. These two girls have known me since childhood. These are what true friends are about.
It was moving - with tears in my eyes and holding the hands of my friends and my husband we started the walk and proudly walked thru the finish line together. Thank you CustomInk for making our team stand out! And helping us stand and walk strong for a cure! "
