"This photograph was taken during the Kiker Elementary Earth Day Clean Up Event held on April 27, 2013 in Austin, Texas. Over 35 volunteers and a local landscaping crew helped transform what we refer to as the "Kindergarten mud pit" into a beautiful garden with tree benches. In addition, volunteers mulched trees, picked up trash and mulched and weeded existing gardens. Our committee created a logo and had CustomInk make our shirts. "Our team climbed 660 steps/30 flights of stairs steps on behalf of the American Lung Association's Fight for Air Climb in Austin, Texas. Our team climbed in honor of my sister who I nicknamed, "Pee-Wee" when she was a little girl. My sister is currently recovering from her 2nd double lung transplant. Our team received the award for most donations received. $4.2K. This money will aide in the in the continued research and awareness for pulmonary disorders and the right to breathe clean air. "Our 6th-8th grade students traveled to Austin in April where they toured Austin City Limits/Moody Theatre. After the tour, we snapped this great photo at the Willie Nelson statue.
