We had intended to nominate Dad but he passed on before we could do that. So Mom, his bride of 60 years, became the subject of the nomination in his honor. "My family started raising money for Ovarian Cancer with various organizations in honor of my mother Nancy Schubert. She was diagnosed with an aggressive form of ovarian cancer in November 2004. She passed away at age 61 in April of 2006. Since 2007 my family has worked with a group Better Than Ever (BTE) and has raised over $70,000.00 to date. We have participated in the NOCC walk to Break the Silence in Chicago several times, including this year on May 4th. This picture is of our group this year Nancy's Angels in Flight. We started Nancy's Angels on Facebook as a tool for anyone who has had any experience with Ovarian Cancer directly or indirectly. We encourage others to share their stories and any new information that comes out against cancer. Our experience with CustomInc has been AMAZING! I can not say it enough. "My best friend from college passed away 3 years ago at the age of 23 from Melanoma. Every year on the anniversary of her passing my college sisters and I visit her mother (3rd person from the L). The first year her mother referred to all of us as her new daughters. We were all honored by her humbling sentiment and vowed to return every year. We usually make our own shirts to commemorate the event. This year we decided to have some professionally made and I am so glad we did! The artists at customink made sure that they were the perfect representation of our friend's favorite animal: a flamingo. "We walked in memory of my mom, Mayra Markowski. She passed away nearly one year ago at the young age of 53, after a lifelong battle with multiple sclerosis. On April 27, 2013, we honored her memory and all of those affected by multiple sclerosis. We raised over $1,100, and had 14 people walk on our team, Walk for Mayra. "I created the team Kilometers for Karen as participants for the Sandy Sprint 5K, held annually in Philadelphia, that benefits the Sandy Rollman Ovarian Cancer Foundation. The team was in memory of my mom, Karen Korman, who passed away September 2012 from Ovarian Cancer. "After losing our mother to brain cancer, we decided to participate in brain cancer/brain tumor 5K's in her honor. We were initially going to fly to NYC from South Florida in November 2012 to participate in our 1st 5K, but Hurricane Sandy got in our way. This past Sunday (4/21/13) we got together and participated in our first family 5K to honor our mom, Libby Vargas. We are called "Libby's Brainiacs". "Our family threw a surprise birthday party for my Mother's 75th birthday. Her birthday was on Easter this year which made it extra special. We ordered t-shirts from size youth extra small to 3xx. I talked with Custom Ink several times and each time they were able to help me quickly. The price was very reasonable, the service exceptionally great, and the t-shirts were beautiful. I want to also add that these were no flimsy cheaply made shirts. They are great quality fabric and well made. My Mother was thrilled. We also had everyone sign their t-shirt.
