"These t-shirts don't represent an event, but rather a journey ... one that I am making with the help of my amazing friends. These women are scattered across North America, and have come together to support me as I wage war against Stage IV ovarian cancer. I was diagnosed in 2010 and then had a recurrence in March of this year. The first time around I was upset; the second time I was MAD! Hence, the slogan on the shirts (the back reads CHEMO SUCKS!). I think they accurately reflect the fighter in me - and also some truths about dealing with this disease. I have a lot of living left to do, and am determined to get through this round of treatment and get on with my plans! I sent my girlfriends these shirts and asked them to pose with their city name. I have them surrounding me in the photo because that's exactly how I feel - surrounded by their support, their friendship, and their love. They wear their shirts on the days I have chemo and knowing that makes me feel less alone as I take my place in my 'chemo chair'. It's no surprise to me that when all the other patients in the clinic see my shirt, they first have a good laugh and then soon admit to feeling the same way. It's amazing how a t-shirt can inspire conversation and bring people together. It's the same with my friends. Although they're not physically present with me, my 'team' is with me in thought and in spirit and as always, in my heart. I could not do this without them. The Customink experience was pleasantly easy - and the emails from Laney (including a charitable donation on my behalf) demonstrated the spirit of this company. I have so many requests for more shirts from friends, family, and complete strangers, I have no doubt that my 'Kickbutt" design isn't finished just yet!"
