About this campaign

Investigating Innocence is a 501 (c) not-for-profit national organization of private investigators and criminal defense attorneys. We provide investigative support to indigent inmates seeking to prove claims of actual innocence, and to members of the Innocence Network.

Investigating Innocence is assisting the Midwest Innocence Project, which is providing legal representation to help free Rodney Lincoln. MIP won a 7 year court battle to have mitochondrial DNA testing performed on a pubic hair recovered from a blanket at the crime scene that a police crime lab witness testified matched Rodney Lincoln. The use of microscopic hair comparison has been recently identified by the FBI as having been responsible for wrongfully convicting innocent people. Rodney Lincoln 's DNA did not match the hair when it was recently tested. There is more sophisticated DNA test kits available to retest a piece of skin tissue that was found under the victim's fingernails. There is also a fingerprint in blood on the knife that was used as a murder weapon that we want to compare with serial killer Tommy Lynn Sells.
