About this campaign

These shirts were designed to be worn to help spread the word about my search for a kidney donor and to raise awareness for living kidney donation hence the "share your spare" hashtag on the back. Any additional funds raised will be going to pay for my current and future transplant expenses.

This idea came about when I made myself a shirt to wear to a concert in the hopes of connecting with a living kidney donor. The tagline "Are you my type?" came to mind as a great conversation starter since simply asking someone to donate a kidney typically results in a flat out no. My plan worked! I had men approaching me thinking it was a pick-up line and others just to ask what it meant. Personally I just thought it was a good way to open up the conversation since blood type is a major component in organ donation. I chose red for the shirt color because blood is red and it is a fairly universal color aside from boring black. Unfortunately no donors resulted from my encounters with people at the concert but I have not given up because I have since had people inquire as to where they could get a shirt to help me spread the word for I am but one person trying to get my story out there. My original shirt was made using iron-ons and it was so tedious and poor quality that I decided to look elsewhere for options which brought me here. This is a great opportunity for people to help spread the word about my search while also raising a little extra to help me pay my current and future medical bills. Below you will see my original homemadehirt and a photo of me wearing it while volunteering at the LifeLink/Donate Life Organ Donor Registration Table. I added the "share your spare" hashtag to this design in the hopes of encouraging more people to come forward and be a altruistic kidney donor because it is possible to live a perfectly healthy, and normal life with only one kidney! I am hoping that by recruiting others to help me spread the word by simply doing what they already do every day (put a shirt on) I will finally find my perfect match.13221537_10156865363325557_6807093985496244489_njpg12990977_10156757549400557_868514120495506288_njpg
