2020 Hurricane Season North Atlantic Tour Fundraiser

Hi there! My name is Kyle Reiman, and I'm a rising senior studying meteorology at Rutgers University. I also run two weather forecasting pages: my personal page, Soaring Weather, and my collaborative page that other fellow meteorology students and I work together on, New Jersey Weather Watchers.

The 2020 Atlantic Hurricane Season was one of the most active hurricane seasons that the Atlantic had ever seen, producing 31 total named storms and 14 hurricanes, 7 of which became major hurricanes. The season also produced tropical cyclones at an unprecedented rate, breaking numerous formation records and utilizing letters from the Greek alphabet never used before. In addition, 11 of the 31 named systems from this season made landfall in the United States, breaking the previous record of nine US landfalls within a season set in 1916. All and all, the 2020 Atlantic Hurricane Season cost more than 51 billion dollars in damages, took the lives of more than 450 people, and affected hundreds of thousands. In addition, this all happened during the COVID-19 pandemic, one of the worst global pandemics the world has ever seen, which exacerbated the impacts from the hurricane season.

That's why I'm running the 2020 Hurricane Season North Atlantic Tour Fundraiser. The fundraiser will be selling t-shirts and hoodies that show all of the tropical cyclones that formed last year and when they formed similar to how the back of a band tour t-shirt is designed (back design pictured below).

All of the proceeds and other donations collected from this fundraiser will be donated to Habitat for Humanity and their Disaster Risk Reduction and Response program, which helps families and communities get the relief they need after disaster strikes. The program also works with communities before disaster strikes, offering various programs, education, and training to prepare communities for natural disasters.
