About this campaign

Every year, on the Saturday before Veterans Day, Royal Oak marches to raise awareness of the scourge of veteran suicide, and to raise money, food, and supplies for homeless or vulnerable vets.

By some estimates, 22 vets commit suicide every day. In Royal Oak, the Veterans Events Committee hosts a Ruck 22 March where we ask participants to load their rucks (ordinary backpacks are fine, too) with 22 lbs. of donations or 22 items to contribute to Veterans in need.

Our mission is always the same -- to raise money for veteran non-profits and raise awareness of this pressing and heartbreaking issue.

Pledge $22 to the fight, and we’ll send you a Ruck 22 cap or beanie hat. Wear it when you lace up your boots this November 6th and march to continue the mission.

All proceeds will go to the John D. Dingell VA Medical Center. Your pledge will support Veterans feeling anxious or alone and thinking about suicide.

Nephews are veterans and brother in law committed suicide many years ago. Suicide is such a tragedy and families are touched forever.
