2025 PWC Firefighter Cancer Awareness Month

January is National Firefighter Cancer Awareness Month. Join us for a special fundraiser dedicated to raising awareness about cancers being faced by firefighters and supporting those who bravely serve our community. Firefighters are exposed to hazardous environments and carcinogens in the line of duty, making them more susceptible to various forms of cancer. Cancer has become the leading cause of line-of-duty deaths among firefighters. Our fundraiser aims to provide vital resources, education, and support for our department members and their families as they confront these challenges. Together, we can raise awareness of their sacrifice and help ensure they receive the care and support they deserve.

Through this fundraiser, we seek to:
• Increase awareness of the heightened cancer risks among firefighters
• Raise funds for cancer prevention, medical screening, and treatment support
• Honor the courage and sacrifice of firefighters battling cancer

Whether you’re a member of the fire service, a family member, or a supporter from the community, your participation makes a difference. Stand with us as we shine a light on this critical issue and help those who protect us every day. The proceeds of this fundraiser will be donated to the PWFF Charitable Foundation Inc. where it will be available to our members in need. On the back of the shirt, you will find cancer ribbons. Each individual small ribbon represents a cancer listed in the Virginia Firefighter Cancer Presumption act (§ 65.2-402).
