About this campaign

I will be embarking on a 70 day, 4,000+ mile cross-country bike ride from Baltimore MD, to Seattle, WA. I will be doing this through the 4K for Cancer program, a program of the Ulman Cancer Fund for Young Adults, in order to create an avenue of funding and support for the fight against cancer.

OUR MISSION
The 4K for Cancer, a program of the Ulman Cancer Fund for Young Adults, is dedicated to empowering young adults in uniting communities across the country in the fight against cancer through community service and support.

Service
Each year 4K participants identify various service opportunities along their route. In the past service opportunities have includedvisiting cancer patients to deliver our chemo care bags, taking part in community dinners, and giving cancer awareness presentations. In 2014 we are rededicating our efforts towards expanding our service events through new and creative ideas.

Support
Young adults exude boundless optimism, idealism, and a sense of indestructibility. Cancer, however, robs them of this perspective. They face the complex practical issues of independence, personal finance, and education or career interruption as well as taxing emotional concerns such as dating, fertility, and hopelessness. Our programs and servicesaddress areas of cancer support, health & wellness, advocacy and education specific to young adults dealing with cancer. The first and only young adult cancer support organizationsof its kind, the Ulman Cancer Fund offers anetwork of supportservices that addresses the unique needs of this population and empower people to be a voice for this underserved population. These services and opportunities toget involvedinclude our Scholarship programs and our Patient Navigation Services. Each team on the 4K will have the privilege of giving out scholarships during their trip.

This upcoming summer I ( Matt Hill ) will be embarking on a 70 day, 4,000+ mile cross-country bike ride from Baltimore MD, to Seattle, WA. I will be doing this through the 4K for Cancer program. Each rider on this trip has been tasked with raising at least $4,500 to donate to the Ulman Cancer Fund (roughly $1 per mile biked!). If you would like me to dedicate a day’s ride to someone you know, I can share that dedication via social media on the day of the ride this summer. Every donation, big or small, helps and is greatly appreciated!
