African Crown

My mother has fair skin, while my father is dark skinned and I am in the middle of them. I never felt like I was light nor dark skinned, just brown. I have received comments about being lightskin or darkskin, but never paid attention to it. I've always gotten the "what are you?" from people first meeting, but once again, I didn't give any attention to it. During my junior year I had to write a paper on anything history related, which I discovered this topic. After doing my research, I decided that I wanted to do more for this topic and make others aware of it. Although, I have not personally experienced the harsh reality and struggles that others have faced, but my heart goes out to those that have felt their self esteem lower due to this issue.
