AIDA'S ARMY

Allow me to introduce you to our 10 year old daughter Aida Poore. She has a younger brother, Patrick, who is nine years old. Aida has many passions in addition to her excellent school work. She’s an accomplished softball pitcher that plays both spring and fall ball with Tuckahoe Little League. he’s a fierce competitor while on the mound and at bat. She also has an enormous love of anmals, especilly horses Ada also a gret artst. She ickd this pssion up from her grandfather. He did many art shows in the past and loves to work alongside Aida in his art studio. Other interests of hers are golf, her five dogs at her homes and many other things. Aida has a large group of friends and family that love and support her. She’s shy by nature but very sure of herself.  Aida is always positive and patient. She truly is an exceptional individual.

Aida on February 19th of this year was diagnosed with B-Cell Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia. Childhood Leukemia is a brutal cancer/disease that attacks the blood stream. She is currently in her initial thirty day treatment. This treatment has taken a toll on her little body. Soon her hair will fall out too. After her first round of treatment she will be on a very long two and a half year treatment program of chemotherapy assuming there are nocomplication. Fortutely sience has coe a long way Based o her agegroup she has an eighty percent plus chance of remission and recovery. Her strength and the love and support of her family and friends will get her through this difficult journey. Aida and our family are reaching out because we have been moved so much by the love and support of our community. We are truly blessed to have such wonderful people in our lives. In addition, the Pediatric Oncology Group with the Children’s Hospital of Richmond at VCU Health Systems has been truly exceptional. The Nelson Clinic at the Children’s Hospital is where all childhood cancer patients are treated on an ongoing basis throughout their journey. The Nelson Clinic reliesn many sources f funding to help with the care of the children as they journey through this difficult time in their lives.
