About this campaign
All Shepherd Rescue (ASR) is a 501(c)(3) dog rescue whose mission is to match adoptable, lovable Shepherds and mixes with their forever family.
We strive to match the personality and needs of each dog with their new home. We want each placement to be a WIN-WIN; making each a terrific match.
Funds raised in this campaign will be used, by ASR, to help our dogs.
Shelters and Rescues nationwide are overflowing with dogs being euthanized regularly. ASR is helping as many dogs as we can. We need your help as we find ourselves with an increasing number of incoming dogs as families are impacted by changes in the economy and more dogs are left in shelters.
In the last year, ASR brought 6 Heartworm positive dogs into our Rescue. These dogs probably would not have survived in their respective shelters.
Heartworm disease is a serious and potentially fatal disease caused by foot-long heartworms that live in the heart, lungs and associated blood vessels of affected pets. These deadly parasites may cause severe lung disease, heart failure and damage to other organs. The worms are spread through the bite of a mosquito. The dog is a definitive host, meaning that the worms mature into adults, mate, and produce offspring while living inside an infected dog.
Heartworm disease is a preventable disease if dogs are given their monthly heartworm preventatives. Infected dogs can be successfully treated but it is a lengthy, expensive process – usually 4-6 months.
Lil Bit (AKA Gus) was successfully treated and adopted by his foster family. Star and Xeno are currently in the mid cycle of their treatments. Bonnie, Clyde and Penny24 are just beginning their treatments in their respective foster homes. ASR is picking up 100% of the costs for their treatments which average between $1300-$1600 per dog.
With your help, All Shepherd Rescue can continue to commit to saving dogs and connecting them with their forever families.
Please support ASR, so we can continue to provide for dogs in need.
