Great Strides 2016

As most of you know our first daughter Amelia was diagnosed with Cystic Fibrosis when she was 6 days old and our second daughter Penelope was diagnosed at birth.  Cystic fibrosis (CF) is a life-threatening genetic disease that primarily affects the lungs and digestive system. An estimated 30,000 children and adults in the United States have CF.  The average life expectancy for someone with Cystic Fibrosis is 37.

This is a historic time in the fight against cystic fibrosis. In 2015 the FDA approved a drug call Orkambi that targets the DeltaF508 mutation that both girls have.  This drug has been approved for ages 12 and up and is going through clinic trials for younger patients.  There is also many more drugs combination that the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation is working on to help fight this disease.
