About this campaign

My name is Kaitlyn and I volunteer with Avery's Angels Gastroschisis Foundation. I volunteer for them because my daughter was born with Gastroschisis in 2012. Without their one on one support and the connections I made with other families I would never had made it through the tough days.

This is my daughter Ashlynn and she was born with Gastroschisis in 2012. When I was 20 weeks pregnant I found out my baby girl was going to be born with gastroschisis. I had no clue what that was and of course I turned to the internet. The pictures and everything was so overwhelming, I was so scared of what was going to happen when my baby girl was born. I came across Avery's Angels Gastroschisis Foundation on facebook. From there I found hope reading stories, connecting with other families, and learning more about gastroschisis. Without Avery's Angels I don't know how I would have been prepared for the birth and what followed after that. Through Avery's Angels I have met so many wonderful people who have become family to me. To this day, AAGF is founded on that initial cause of providing support to families as being our primary purpose, funding the needs of the cause above all else, and encouraging research to discover the causes and promote prevention Avery’s Angels Gastroschisis Foundation has grown to 200 volunteers across multiple continents as of July 2014. We are all humbled and honored to support gastroschisis families worldwide in any way we can. AAGF is also the first nonprofit in the world dedicated to supporting gastroschisis families.

My son, 16 months, was born with Gastroschisis. As a mild case, my heart and prayers go out to all the other families with difficulties.
