On April 28th, 2025, Jimmi Sue’s life changed forever when she suddenly lost her husband, Mark, after 22 years of marriage. She never imagined that, that while she was already trying to navigate the unimaginable pain of losing her husband, she would soon be facing another life-changing battle of her own. In mid-February, Jimmi Sue began experiencing severe stomach pain. After going to the ER, she was referred to a gastrointestinal for further testing. In April, she was sent to Kirkland Clinic in Birmingham, AL, to meet her surgical team. It was there that she received the devastating news that she had cancer in the bile ducts of her liver. Almost a year to the day of losing her husband, she was getting part of her liver removed. She hoped that removing cancer would mean the end of this fighting journey. Unfortunately, after surgery, she learned that she was facing an even bigger battle: stage 3 metastatic cholangiocarcinoma, a rare and aggressive form of bile duct cancer. on June 11th, Jimmi Sue began a taxing form of chemotherapy with her daughter and two best friends by her side. she is also facing new medications, additional medical appointments, and a need to see a specialist to help manage her blood sugar. With multiple trips to Birmingham, chemotherapy, medications, doctors appointments, and all of the other unexpected expenses that can come with a cancer diagnosis, the financial burden has quickly become overwhelming.Jimmi Sue has already endured the heartbreaking loss of her husband, and now she is fighting for her own life. She never expected so much loss and uncertainty in such a short amount of time. This fundraiser is about more than helping with medical expenses, it’s about surrounding Jimmi Sue with love, support, prayers and hope durning one of the hardest seasons of her life.
