About this campaign
Bear was diagnosed with end stage renal disease in 2009. Since then he has endured countless hospital stays, surgeries dialysis and many many other horrible things most people cannot fathom. After much effort and prayer he has been listed on the transplant list! This campaign is designed to accomplish two things. First, find a suitable donor for Bear so that he can have a working kidney. Second, raise funds needed to cover costs involved in the transplant process that are not covered by insurance. Bear will be hospitalized for several weeks at a hospital an hour and half away from home. His wife will have to stay in a hotel. The funds raised will cover the hotel expenses as well as food, gas, and lost wages during the recovery time when neither Bear nor Brandie will be able to work.

Bear is a vibrant man with a promising future. He was diagnosed with chronic kidney disease seven years ago. Five years ago, his kidneys failed and he had to go on dialysis. This did not stop him in his pursuits, although it did slow him down. He was able to obtain his Master's Degree and maintain a teaching assistantship at Missouri State University while having to go for dialysis three times per week. He has had to endure many hospitalizations and surgeries. He has worked very hard to be placed on the transplant list. The major hurdle was the need to lose weight. From his heaviest weight to the time of this posting, Bear has lost almost 140 pounds. The transplant team has said that Bear is an excellent candidate for a transplant and to be ready at a moment's notice. Please help Bear reach his goals of finding a kidney and being prepared when the time comes.
