About this campaign

The American Association of Zookeepers (AAZK) is a non-profit organization made up of animal care professionals, volunteers, and students from all over the United States. Bowling for Rhinos is the signature conservation effort of AAZK, raising funds and awareness for rhino conservation. One hundred percent of the money raised through Bowling for Rhinos each year helps support Lewa Wildlife Conservancy, a sanctuary for African rhinos located in Kenya; Ujong Kulon, a protected reserve for Javan rhinos located on the Island of Java; Way Kambas, a sanctuary for Sumatran rhinos on the island of Sumatra; and Action for Cheetahs in Kenya.

Typical activities supported at these sites by the money raised by Bowling for Rhinos include building and repairing fences, purchasing, operating and maintaining planes and vehicles to utilize in anti-poaching efforts, providing salaries for anti-poaching guards, and in some instances translocation of rhinos from unsafe areas into the protected zones.
