About this campaign

This fundraiser was started as a competition between two Peoria IL fan bases to see who could raise the most money.

The two Peoria IL fan bases created by the Cards/Cubs rivalry is fun, but contentious. BUT, they will come together for a good cause. Brady, his mom, and his dad have been involved with multiple fundraisers for multiple functions for the past 22 years (Brady turned 22 in July, 2021). Now, THEY need a little fundraising to get Brady from heart and liver transplants to employment. Brady graduated from Eureka College in May, 2021. Anyway, ......

Brady is a cards fan. Dad (Greg) is a cubs fan. And they both enjoy golf and the last time each of them golfed, they golfed together on December 29, 2020 at Disney World. Brady was placed on the double transplant list on January 6, 2021.

Brady got approval from his doctors to golf in Greg's Fantasy Football Pre-Draft Golf Outing on August 28, 2021. Greg has golfed in the event each year since it started 10+ years ago and Brady has joined him in the last two and we want to keep the streak going. The fundraiser shirts come in both STL powder blue and CHI royal blue and will debut at this years event, which will be held at Coyote Creek Golf Club in Bartonville, IL.

Coyote Creek was Brady's high school course and he worked there multiple years during high school and college.

Brady is a much better golfer than Dad, in a much shorter time, and Dad is ok with that.

Brady was born with (HLHS) Hypoplastic Left Heart Syndrome - the left side of his heart was too small to operate properly after birth. Just 4 days after he was born, he had the first of many surgeries to re-route the "plumbing" of his circulatory system to allow the right side to pump for the whole heart. These surgeries have helped Brady live a "normal" life.

As he has gotten older and bigger, it has been harder for his heart to do it's job and Brady has struggled with other complications, the most daunting of which is called PLE (Protein Losing Enteropathy). There is no cure for PLE and has been out of remission the past few years and it is taking it's toll on Brady's liver.

The next step in Brady's Battle is a double organ transplant (heart and liver). He is currently on the list and could be called to STL for surgery at any time. The surgery, recuperation, therapies, etc. will be coordinated between the STL Children's Hospital at Barnes Jewish Hospital -AND- CHOI (Children's Hospital Of Illinois) at OSF St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria, IL.

The adoption part of this is a passion for Brady's Dad (Greg). He was adopted twice in his life (once for the wrong reasons and once for the right reasons). Greg was born with the last name Sanders. The last name is not important. Last names change all the time. First names and character usually stay the same. Anyway, ......

Adoption to Greg is anyone helping anyone else GET THROUGH THE NIGHT (song by Jon Lennon). "Whatever gets you through the night, its all right, its all right" is woven throughout the song. That NIGHT could be a few hours, days, years or a lifetime. The point is that person A helped person B from the dark to the light. For however long it takes. The goal then would be person B to help person C get THROUGH THE NIGHT. A much better world would exist if we all did that.

Greg is a transplant from Portage IN to Peoria IL. He was lucky enough to meet this group of guys who started the Hackmaster's Golf Club in 1989. That led to the Hackmaster's Fantasy Football League in 1992. This year will be the 30th year. So this group adopted Greg as one of their own and have gotten him "THROUGH THE NIGHT" plenty of times.

Now that you know more of the story, GWEAVE (Greg Weaver) asks that you help adopt BWEAVE (Brady Weaver) so that we can all help Brady WIN THIS BATTLE.
