Kyle Hester as Brian Daniel
The Story
BURDEN
OF FREEDOM follows the story of U.S. Army Captain Brian Daniel, who
fought in the historic battle of Najaf, Iraq, only to come home to a
different kind of battle. This film will help spread awareness of PTSD
in an impactful, dramatic way.
Brian
Daniel is a young married man, and is a veteran of the war in Iraq as
a Captain of the 101st Airborne Division. After being wounded in
battle, he returns home, only to combat PTSD, and the horrific wartime
memories that haunt him. Brian has dreams of moving to Southern
California, and making a fresh start. Living in a small run down rental
house, and barely scraping by, he just manages to eek out a living.
Brian is an honest, loving, and hardworking family man, who desperately
wants a stable life in new surroundings, in order to forget his
wartime horrors and to conquer his PTSD.Brian is very close with his
Dad, who is a veteran of Vietnam as a member of the Special Operations
Forces - The Green Berets. Brian uses a family contact through his
father– an uncle in Southern California, to arrange for a job working
for him in the Film industry. Now, Brian is on a fast track to get
there. But not every veteran of that war has such a happy outlook.
Peter Murnik as First Sergeant Lance Harrison
Former
First Sergeant Lance Harrison, Brian's childhood best friend from the
same Airborne Company and who served under Brian, is struggling
mightily with PTSD. Lance suffers with horrific wounds, burns, constant
pain - and unemployment - and a seeming lack of support from the
Government for payments and medical benefits. The result is great
personal, family and financial distresses and hardships. Worse, Lance
received his wounds after unwillingly following Brian’s orders during
that fateful, heated battle in Najaf, Iraq, that sent them both home for
good because of the wounds they sustained.

I am not a vet. But I do have PTSD from a car accident. I know how debilitating it can be & how it can affect every aspect of your life. I support our troops & want them to get everything they need. They give so much. We have to take care of our own.
This film is important not only to the veterans & soldiers that suffer from PTSD to let them know they're not alone, but to all of us to understand its effects. To those who carried this Burden of Freedom we say thank you.
It's a worthwhile cause driven by people that truly want to help.
