About this campaign

Did you know that 'once a cesarean always a cesarean' is not accurate? Of the women who attempt a vaginal birth after cesarean (VBAC), 60-80% will be able to VBAC. The American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists and the National Institutes of Health both state that "VBAC is a safe and appropriate choice for most women" with up to two prior cesareans. In spite of this, some hospitals and providers have instituted VBAC bans which reduce mothers' birth options and force them to schedule repeat cesareans. Post cesarean birth options are affected by a number of options and vary by individual, but this Cesarean Awareness Month, ICAN is asking hospitals, provirs, an mothers to give VBC a safeand apprpriate cance!

The International Cesarean Awareness Network, Inc. (ICAN) is a nonprofit organization whose mission is to improve maternal-child health by preventing unnecessary cesareans through education, providing support for cesarean recovery, and promoting Vaginal Birth After Cesarean (VBAC). The funds raised from this limited edition t-shirt will go towards a program to educate women in various communities about post cesarean birth options. ICAN is a proud supporter of the film 'Trial of Labor,' directed and produced by Robert Humphreys and Dr. Elliot Berlin, releasing in March 2015. For more info, visit: www.TrialofLabor.com. For more information on VBAC, please visit: The American College of Obstetricians and GynecologistsorThe National Institutes of Health.
