Being a cancer assassin is about fighting. It's different than being a survivor. It's about playing an active role in eradicating the disease that has been on this planet for way too long. We aren't raising awareness - we're raising money that goes directly to finding a cure through immunotherapy, a way to help a patient's own body target and fight cancer without the need for the toxic sledgehammer of chemotherapy.
100% of net proceeds from cancerassassin.com will be used to fund an American Cancer Society funded grantee, Dr. Nora Disis. To learn a bit more about what immunotherapy is, click here.
Cancer Assassin is an ongoing campaign (until we find a cure). Orders will be processed on the 15th and 30th of each month.
I dislike the term survivor. To me, it's not empowering enough. When I was diagnosed with Stage 4 breast cancer in 2008, I didn't just want to survive cancer, I wanted to assassinate it. I'm more than someone hanging on - I'm fighting back. I'm actively participating in the fight, as are all who receive chemo, have surgery to remove a tumor, receive radiation, research a cure, support cancer patients, or fight for behaviors that can prevent cancer in the first place.
Some cancer assassins may even die, but they will die fighting. As Ingrid Bergan said, "Time is hortening. But every day that I challenge this cancer and survive is a victory for me."
