Carmel FOP Food Basket Fundraiser

45 years ago the Carmel FOP Lodge #185 wanted to do something for the community to thank them for their support. The officers decided that there were many families in the community that needed assistance with food around the holiday season. This began the Food Basket Fundraiser. The Carmel FOP partnered with the Good Samaritan Network of Hamilton County in finding the families that need the assistance. In the past few years the Carmel FOP has also partnered with our local 96th Street Sam's Club who have assisted us with food costs and some food donations for our fundraiser. Twice a year, once around Thanksgiving and once around Christmas, officers and their families, along with local businesses, local families and community groups such as the boy scouts and girl scouts gather to pack 1,000 food boxes. 500 boxes are packed for each holiday. Each box contains a full holiday meal. This includes a ham or turkey, potatoes, mac n cheese, stuffing, vegetables, fruit, a drink, desert, breakfast cereal, bread, and a few other products. We are hopeful that the food packed in each box will be able to feed the families for several days. Once the boxes are packed they will then be delivered to the families to enjoy in time for the holidays.
