About this campaign

The first shirt in the collection is the Mary Bowser shirt. Mary was born enslaved into the Van Lew family in Richmond sometime between 1839 and 1846. There are not many records of her, but she was believed to be a spy for the Union Army during the Civil War. She infiltrated the home of Jefferson Davis to capture information to aid the United States. In Finding Wilberforce, she teaches William to choose to be on the right side of history.
