About this campaign

At Ebukhayi students arrive at school at 7 am when they start general cleaning chores. The students also use this time to go to the river that’s about one kilometer away. Some also bring water from home in the morning. They use some of this water to clean the classrooms before classes start at 8 am. They break for lunch at 12:40 pm and resume afternoon classes at 2 pm. There’s no other water source on school grounds, so students have to walk to the river each time they need more water. Since the river is so far away, students miss out on a lot of valuable study time and it gets hard to stick to the regular academic schedule. And because this is an open river, the water is filthy and dangerous for drinking.

In class students have been learning about the global water crisis around the world and the UN Sustainability Goals. Together they picked a school in Kenya to support. Students are raising money to bring Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH) education to these children in Africa. By bringing clean water the children at the Ebukhayi school can spend more time on their education. As many students have told me, "All people deserve clean water."
