He went on to become a successful businessman and was a 20-year member of the Wheeling City Council, where he also served as vice mayor through his dedication to the community. He also served as a faculty member at WLSCin the School of Business Administration, member of WLSCBoard of Governors, and most importantly he was a loving and caring husband and father. Clyde Thomas exemplified what it meant to be a friend, colleague, and leader, respected by all. It is because of his dedication to the community that family and friends established the Clyde Thomas Scholarship Fund.

Because my father was an awesome man, provider, father, and my hero!
Clyde was our Insurance Agent for the Flood of 1972. I watched him jump over flood water, from the street, over the sidewalk, onto our 4th step up - in a suit and dress shoes! What an athlete and an even better man!
I knew Clyde
In memory of Fred Lautar who played for the Ironmen!
Clyde was a great man and an exemplary public servant.
The Ironmen captured the blue-collar city workers. Clyde seemed like a genuinely nice guy, and a politician for the people of Wheeling.
