The Chatham County Council on Aging will celebrate its 47th anniversary on July 8th. Funds raised through this 47th Anniversary t-shirt sale will go to help fund the ongoing programs and services of the Chatham County Council on Aging, including providing home-delivered meals, in-home aide, wellness programs, and much more to Chatham County's older adults and their families. See our full story below for more information.
Our Council on Aging has been an independent non-profit since July 8, 1974, serving Chatham County, North Carolina seniors by providing programs and services to keep them living at home longer and more safely. The Council is Chatham County’s main portal of entry to senior services; however, we are not a County Department.
This past year has been especially challenging due to COVID-19, but we stepped up to continue making a positive difference.
Since mid-March 2020, through the support of the community and sponsors like you, the Council has provided…
Frozen & Shelf-Stable Meals: Since adjusting our meals program in response to COVID-19, we have delivered over 16,500 Shelf-Stable Meals and 6,156 Frozen Meals. We've also provided over 5,448 Frozen and Shelf-Stable Meals for participant pick-up.
In-Home Aide & Caregiver Respite
We have provided over 33,456 hours of In-Home Aide services and over 1,981 hours of Caregiver Respite for those we serve, through a partnership with State-licensed home care agencies.
Equipment & Supplies: We have provided Incontinence Supplies to an average of 84 clients per month and Assistive Equipment Loans to 265 clients.
Health & Wellness Activities: We have streamed and delivered over 600 hours of online and phone-based Health, Wellness, Fitness and Educational programs, conference calls and small groups for seniors to connect socially while sheltering-in-place.
Information & Assistance Calls: We have responded to over 16,000 Information and Assistance Calls in addition to our outgoing friendly check-in calls.
And More...
Including over 1,500 Medical Transportation Rides; deliveries of boredom busters, like puzzle books and coloring supplies; physically distanced birthday parades for our oldest seniors and more.
