About this campaign

We are hosting this Virtual 5K to raise money to support Michaela Wilkerson and her family during this time. You will receive a mask with a custom Michaela design on it! You will have two weeks to walk and submit a photo of you and your pet or small group and "Socially Distanced" for a chance to win a prize!

Many of us know Michaela Wilkerson through her work as the manager of the Middleburg Humane Foundation. For the last thirteen years, she has worked to help the people in our community by caring for animals in need.

Those who know Michaela have been impressed by her beautiful blend of intelligence, compassion, and patience. Her keen ability to relate to both people and animals is unique. Many of us have been burdened by the complicated situations involving our pets and have found ourselves in need. Michaela’s quick understanding has been impactful, and even in tough situations, her sassy humor has made us laugh. She has been very effective in her role.

Always self reliant, always hard working, she has always given us her best. When it became clear that her little niece required a kidney transplant, Michaela did not hesitate. Michaela and her family have had their challenges, recently by her husband Mike’s cancer, thankfully in remission.

Now Michaela has been diagnosed with cancer.

It is our turn to help Michaela by helping her sunshine, her pride and joy, her youngest daughter, Savannah.

Savannah is an engaging and self possessed eleven year old, fun to talk to and always ready for a joke. This talented girl plays the violin for the school orchestra, aspires to be a fashion designer, and loves to crochet and sew. And, like her mother, loves hanging out with her family and pets.

Let’s make this bright child's future a bit brighter with a gift towards her education!
