About this campaign

Take Naps & Save Dogs! Now, that's a life worth writing about! While we would all love to save all of the dogs, we know that it just isn't possible. But, there are so many things that we can do to help save a vast majority of dogs and we need your help to continue doing just that.
Our vet bills are too high, which means that we can't help save dogs until we can significantly reduce these bills. Please order a shirt for you and your loved ones to wear proudly, knowing that it has helped to save a life.

Over the past couple months we have incurred some extensive bills for a few big surgeries for stray dogs picked up by our fosters and others by the Livingston Parish animal shelter. We are trying to get fundraisers going as fast as possible but were once again hit with 2 major expenses in the last 24 hours.
55302329-ef64-4b6d-b5e9-6edfe4d8ec83jpgOne of our returned adoptees (Zeus) was rushed to the emergency vet last night after refusing to eat and having trouble breathing. After xrays and bloodwork it was determined that he has eaten rat poison within the last week before being returned into the foster program. He is currently at LSU receiving plasma transfusions and his outlook is actually good at the moment!

453b5795-e43b-439d-8a24-fbc24d9d3ee1jpgAlso about a month ago the SPCA of Louisiana called because they picked up one of our previously adopted dogs in New Orleans (Riley). His owner was unable to go get him from the shelter or keep him anymore even though she had adopted him from us over a year ago! We have reason to believe that he was abandoned and are looking into animal cruelty charges as he was found emaciated with a broken leg. We brought him to the vet and he has been recovering in his foster home. Today was his follow up which went well concerning his previously broken leg but it was discovered that he has a birth malformity causing both of his knees to fall out of socket. He needs surgery in the next month or so to prevent further damage. We simply cannot afford to fix this guy because of our other expenses :

11127076_10206495734335800_1748836469_njpgJaxon- young, stray dog hit by a car picked up by one of our fosters. Surgery included FHO for broken femur, xrays and meds for broken jaw and drain for puncture wound in his neck. He is recovering nicely and will be put up for adoption soon.

fcad4327-855b-4dca-9bc4-3a2f41ad97aajpgLexus- stray hit by car dog from the Livingston shelter, surgery resulting in rear leg amputation. She has fully recovered and can be adopted from the shelter.

11132301_10206489928670662_1178303385_ojpgAugust- rescued by one of our fosters with a wound considered months old, resulting in a rear leg amputation. She will be for adoption after recovery.

IMAG1717jpgAiko is still going on followups at LSU for his intestinal disease and we are trying different ways at managing his illness.

We will not be able to help any new dogs or get the double knee surgery our guy needs without your help.
