About this campaign

Maine is busy with legislative activity and LD 231 has been moved forward to a work session. Help us raise funds quickly to produce the needed documents to share with all the Senators and Representatives that will be voting.
Thank you for your support in our efforts to make change for our children!

lp 2jpgProject DEBUNK along with Decoding Dyslexia-Maine have been working hard for two years to pass legislation in Maine that will bring change for our dyslexic children in our schools. We believe our schools have done what they know how to do, however, they need to learn about what Dyslexia really is, how to spot it, what to do to help our children learn to read, and how to accommodate for them in the classroom so they can reach their full potential.
We have a bill, LD 231, that is moving forward to a work session. This will be a beginning, offering a definition in our education code, early screening, and a dyslexia consultant to help educate the schools and state about dyslexia. Help us raise funds quickly to produce the needed documents to share with all the Senators and Representatives that will be voting. If we have left over funds, we will use them to support awareness in other areas of the state, or to put on "Dyslexia for a Day" Simulation Workshops.
We are hoping to get all that we want in this bill . . . but any change is a victory to begin with and we will continue to press on to make a real difference for our kids.
