About this campaign

For our second Annual Evocative Visions T-Shirt Design Competition, the executive committee of Women Caucus For Art has chosen Terese Greve Wolf's Unity as the winning design. The funds raised from the sale of the t-shirts will go toward supporting WCA’s mission to create community through art, education, and social activism. And 30% of the proceeds from the t-shirts will go directly to the artist, Terese Greve Wolf.

Bio:
Teresa Greve Wolf is a Chilean American Artist, who lives and works in the Midwest. Born and raised in Santiago, Chile, Teresa came to the United States four decades ago so that her husband could complete his advanced degree at the University of California, Berkeley. However, during her absence, Pinochet took power of her beloved Chile, and the volatile political climate forced them to stay longer, until they found their life was now in a new land. Teresa's work reflects the flavor of her homeland culture while embracing the influences of the country she now calls home.

Artistic Vision and Statement:
Over the course of my artistic career, social justice has been a consistent theme of mine. It is a subject I am most passionate about because I understand firsthand what it feels like to not have a voice. Living in Chile during the time of Pinochet, many could not speak their truth without mysteriously disappearing or getting thrown in jail. I also know from my experience, discrimination as a Latina female. Through my art, I am bringing awareness to the social injustices happening around us, giving people a voice, and creating a call to action.

A Call for Unity
This painting is my call to action for women to petition for their rights & equality. These four women represent different ethnicities wrapped around the symbol of unity. They are surrounded by hands showing support for each other and that they are all on common, and equal ground.
