Faith for Tahjma

Tahjma, a 16 year old sophomore at Captain Shreve, was recently diagnosed with a brain tumor.After complaining of massive headaches, fatigue, and nausea for several weeks, and several trips to various doctors, she was diagnosed with a severe sinus infection.During hersister's weddingon July 5, 2014 , she passed out as they were recitingtheir vows. Shewas immediately rushed to the hospital where doctors discovered the tumor on her brain. Three days later she was sent to surgeryto relieve pressure and to biopsy the mass, but it was determined that it was inoperable due to its sensitive location. Following a week in intensive care at Willis Knighton, Tahjma was transported to St. Jude in Memphis to continue her care.Since then Tahjma has endured 8 weeks of radiation and is currently undergoing a year of chemotherapy.

Tahjma has always been a vibrant and active teenage.An avid basketball player since first grade, she isa member of the Greenwood Acres Golden Eagles basketball team, Captain Shreve's basketball team, and even Captain Shreve's pep squad.Not only is she a star on the basketball court, but also in the her academic endeavorsby maintaining a 4.0 GPA. She aspires to graduate from high school and attend LA Tech University to study biomedical engineering.She enjoys going to church, shopping, trying new foods, and spending time with her family.

This has definitely been a challenging journey but Tahjma is courageous,resilientand has gone through every step without a complaint. Her family and friends believe that she will make a complete recovery.

We are forever grateful for the charitable healthcare services that were provided at St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. However, the ICU visit, surgery, anesthesia and follow-up appointments at various doctors have quickly accumulated to a total of more than $100,000 in medical debts. Tahjma'smother has been especially committed to driving Tahjma to and from Memphis for appointments, requiring her to miss work for a great deal of time. Her father workstirelessly to try to cover the growing debts but the amount has become overwhelming. We are asking for your help whether it be prayers, donations, or warm words of encouragement.
