At 19 years old, Timmy Tusick was diagnosed with leukemia, a form of cancer that infests the blood. Timmy was officially diagnosed on March 4th, 2019 after a frightening series of events that resulted in the near loss of his life. This game is meant not only to support Timmy in his fight but for the spread of awareness of this aggressive disease. Shirts saying the phrase “FIGHT TOGETHER FINISH STRONG.” will be worn on the backs of the many dedicated volleyball players participating in Gilmour’s home game versus Beaumont on October 3rd. Knowing that his treatment will take about three years total, Timmy remains positive in his fight, saying that “We are dealt a hand of cards in life. Sometimes you don’t get the best hand but you have to play what you get.” As he continues to inspire others, the volleyball community will represent Timmy with the slogan “#26STRONG” on the front of the shirts.
