A Little About Us...
Many of you know our story and have been with us through it all, but if not I'm more than willing to share! I adopted my son, Jacob, through foster care in March of 2014 and developed a friendship with his birth mother in the years after. She continued to struggle with some of the same things that brought Jacob to me, so when Gabe was born in February of 2016, he came home with his big brother and me.
We began our LEGAL fight for Gabe when he was six months old and it was clear that his birth parents would not be able to raise him. Gabe's birth mother continued to struggle, and his birth father has been incarcerated since right after he was conceived. I was granted temporary sole custody a month before his 1st birthday and PERMANENT sole custody last October.
We are now in a battle to be able to OFFICIALLY make Gabe a legal part of our family. Gabe's birth mom is very much on board with me being able to adopt him, but his father is fighting every step of the way regardless of the fact that he will be incarcerated for several more years and HAS been incarcerated on and off for the majority of his adult life. We have already had a few speed bumps along the way that have added unexpected expenses with the legal fees, but things are slowly moving along and we are guardedly optimistic. Our HOPE is to be able to get a trial date by early next year, and if things go the way we pray, to FINALLY be able to adopt the little boy who has been my son since he was 15 minutes old.
Matthew 17:20 20. ... Truly I tell you, if you have faith as small as a mustard seed, you can say to this mountain, 'Move from here to there,' and it will move. Nothing will be impossible for you."
We believe that faith CAN and HAS moved mountains for our little guy over the past 2 1/2 years, and with your continued support and prayers, I know the next step in our journey will see even MORE mountains moved. Thank you, everyone, for all of your support, for loving me and my boys, and for everything you've ALREADY done for our family.
