About this campaign

The CCC in Chimaltenango, Guatemala, is a community-based program focused on serving orphaned and vulnerable children. The children and families served are trapped in a vicious cycle where 66% of the population of Chimaltenango live in extreme poverty and lack the financial ability to provide basic needs for their children.
* The average household income of families served by CCC is around $7-10 a day.
* One of the most critical needs of these children is education; the average amount of schooling completed by students in Chimaltenango is only 5.7 years.
* Providing a quality education and healthy support system gives children the opportunity to acquire the necessary tools to face life successfully and help break the cycle of poverty for these families.
* Orphan Outreach and their auxiliary WOW (Women for Orphans Worldwide) started working in Chimaltenango in 2012 by first visiting the local municipality trash dump. We noticed that many young children and teenagers were also working alongside their parents to help bring home income.
* The CCC was established in 2016 to serve this vulnerable population. Starting out as an after- school tutoring and feeding program it has slowly evolved, deepened, and expanded its services for the children enrolled and their families.
* Currently, the CCC serves 91 children from 44 families, ages 3 to 18 in four areas (Montessori (preschool age); Primary school age (1st-6th grade); High school age (7-12th grade); University scholarship program)
* A new CCC Montessori Building will open in 2024 with the goal to help the CCC to increase Montessori enrollment by approximately 40% (to more than 50 children) receiving quality early childhood Montessori education, 2 meals a day and psychological support. This increase will then allow future growth of the school age programs.

We are excited to have Phase One of the new CCC Montessori Building nearly completed. The new Montessori school building will house open-style, Montessori classrooms, kitchen, dining area, staff offices, and a sensory playground with landscaping. Orphan Outreach will then be raising funds to help fund Phase Two of the new CCC Montessori building, including increased operational expenses.

My Frenchie, Fin travels with me most everywhere, except he could not go to Guatemala this past March. My friend and Orphan Outreach co-founder, Tiffany Taylor Wines, and I came up with a way that Fin could have his own mission. Thus, "Fin on a Mission with WOW" was born. WOW was created by several of my good friends and their daughters who, many years ago, saw a great need to help at risk children and their families in Guatemala and WOW is the auxiliary of Orphan Outreach.

This drawing for Fin was created by our very talented friend Jose, who we have known since he was very young as he grew up in one of the very places we served in Guatemala. As a young adult, Jose is another amazing success story. He just completed his high school diploma last year and is a self taught artist.

If you have never served on a mission trip in Chimaltenango it is really difficult to actually see or even understand the need of this humble, loving people. I have now been to Guatemala 6 or 7 times and each time my heart is open in different ways to diverse Guatemalans who face adversity with kindness and love in their hearts. I always find a peaceful purpose when I am in Guatemala.

The CCC was born from a need to see to the spiritual, educational, physical and emotional needs of these beautiful children and their families living in extreme poverty. I have actually visited the garbage dump (called the Ravine) and seen first-hand what some of the people in Chimaltenango had to do for work and that often they brought their children with them because they had no other choice.

It is time that the CCC expanded to serve the needs of the younger members of the community and through the grace of God and countless donors we have not only been able to secure a building for the Montessori School within a 3 minute walk from the main CCC building but also complete most of Phase 1. Any funds raised through sales of these t-shirts will go towards the new Montessori School in Chimaltenango.

Thank you for your kindness and generosity! Love, Jenny and Fin
