Fpies Awareness

Food Protein Induced Entercolitis Syndrome, FPIES, is a rare but serious food allergy that affects children world-wide. In a child with FPIES, when a food he or she is allergic to is ingested, a delayed-onset reaction can be seen in the form of sudden, profuse, projectile vomiting and lethargy. During a reaction the following may be seen: lethargy, low blood pressure, pallor, increased white blood-cell count and shock (which can be life-threatening). Currently, there is no cure. Unfortunately, children and families affected by FPIES are fighting an uphill battle. With professionals in the medical field often unaware of this syndrome, parents struggle to find the answers and support they so desperately need. That's where you come in!
