About this campaign
There are so many questions that I have been asked since being back from my Discipleship Training School in San Francisco with my outreach in Vietnam. Of course I have been asked, “How was your outreach/ missions trip/ vacation?” and, “Did you like Vietnam?” many times, but the biggest questions have been, “What are you doing now? What’s next?”
Fortunately, I knew what I was going to be doing after outreach, before I even left for it. I felt like I had three options for my future, and they all stayed within YWAM: a leadership school, a Bible school, or coming on as staff at a base.
As I was praying, “God, show me where to go and I will go there…”
He replied with, “Malawi.”
And I said, “Yeah… I’m not going there…”
I started to feel really convicted about how I was responding to the ways that God was answering my prayers. I had to take a step back in order to see that I was not being obedient and I thought that whatever I chose to do with my life would be way better than Malawi. And by doing that, my heart became more and more open to being called to Africa.
God started to put South Africa on my mind a lot (I honestly didn’t know that it was a country at first…) and I thought that it was because He wanted me to pray more for the people who live there, but it soon turned into something more. A friend told me how there is a YWAM base there near Cape Town that does a School of Biblical Studies and something in me said, “This is what I need to do!”So I continued t pray about it and felt that South Africa was my next step.
After that decision, you cannot believe how many times I heard someone talking about South Africa, I met someone from there, or saw it mentioned in the books I was reading! It’s like when you purchase a new car and you start to see it everywhere. I started talking about it so much that I think my friends were starting to get tireof heaing me mention it. I even talked about it so much with one friend that she is now going to attend the school too.
I am beyond excited to have the opportunity to live in one the most beauiful places in Africa, growing in my walk with God and challenging my perspective on Christianity and world culture!
This is something that I have been praying about and planning for the past six months and I would appreciate your help in being able to do what God is calling me to. I want to honor Him in following through with my prayer to to th ends of the earth with Him, and it just so happens to be where South Africa is!
I would end this
by saying “Thank you” in a South African dialect, but it turns out that they
have over 11 commonly spoken languages, so I will just say thank you in
English! Thank you for taking the time to hear what is next for me, and I hope
you can be a part of my journey! ****(If you would like to support me directly, you can do that through Tilt: http://tilt.tc/edfX)
